Welcome to the SWAS Gators!
Currently, swimmers are participating in the USA Swimming Short Course Season (Fall/Winter).
During the Spring/Summer, athletes can join the Southern Arizona Aquatic Association (SAAA) summer league and/or the USA Swimming Long Course Season.
Why Join the Gators?
Swimming provides children with a healthy, lifelong activity and creates cherished memories. By joining the Gators, your family will have the opportunity to engage with a community organization, work alongside neighbors and peers, and contribute to a shared goal in a supportive environment. Our team is led by dedicated, experienced coaches who are committed to helping each swimmer reach their full potential.
We invite you to join us and experience the many benefits of being part of something special in our community!
Practice:
Practices will be held at 4 locations:
- Forty Niner Country Club - 12000 E. Tanque Verde Rd.
- Eastern Hills Aquatic Club (EHAC) - 981 N. Evelyn Ave.
- Skyline Country Club - 5200 E. Saint Andrews Dr.
- Purple Heart Pool - 9800 E. Rita Rd. (Summer Only)
Swimmers will practice in groups based on their age and swimming experience. Practice duration and frequency will vary depending on the swimmer’s level. Regular attendance is strongly encouraged for optimal results.
Please refer to the 2025 Fall/Winter Practice Schedule for details.
Team Events:
Parents and swimmers are welcome to select events matching their interests and availability. Coaches will review all entries before final submission to the host team.
While all events are optional, we encourage families to commit to a schedule that aligns with the age and experience of their swimmers. Automatic reminders to sign up will be sent one week before each registration deadline. Please review the calendar and commit or decline participation as early as possible, as coaches spend significant time preparing entries and meet programs.
- To qualify for USA Swimming championship events, swimmers must achieve the required qualifying times (Q-Times) during the season. Regional and State Meets are team-bonding experiences and a great opportunity for swimmers to compete at a higher level.
Upcoming events can be found under the ‘EVENTS’ tab on our website, where you can also register. An overview of all meets and events can be viewed here: 2025 Fall/Winter Calendar.
Family Participation:
Swimming is a family sport, and we rely on over 50 volunteers to run each of our home meets. Each family with a participating swimmer is required to volunteer at our home meets. Volunteer participation is tracked through our website, and we ask that you register for volunteer roles online. Volunteering is a rewarding way to get involved and show your swimmer(s) that you support their efforts.
Most roles are simple and require little to no training, though some positions (such as Stroke & Turn Judges) require certification. We are always in need of volunteers for these critical roles as well.
To sign up for a volunteer job, go to the ‘EVENTS’ tab, click on the event, and select the green ‘Job Sign Up’ button.
- We understand that life can be busy, so we offer a buy-out option of $75 per event for parents who are unable to volunteer. If you wish to use the buy-out option, please email us prior to the event.
Coaches:
Our coaches are certified in safety through the American Red Cross and USA Swimming, with qualifications in Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and Safety Training for Swim Coaches. They have also completed background checks. Our USA team coaches hold additional certifications from USA Swimming and the American Swim Coaches Association, ASCA.
You can learn more about our coaches here: Meet our Coaches’.
Fees:
The registration fee is $50 per family (annual, one-time), plus a monthly fee per swimmer, which varies by swimmer level and practice frequency (discounts are available for families with multiple swimmers).
Additional fees for USA meets include an entry fee, an $10 AZ surcharge, and a $15 team fee plus event fees.
Required Swim Gear:
All swimmers should have: fins, goggles, swim cap and a snorkel
- Ages 11 and older: pull buoy
- Ages 13 and older: stroke paddles
Families are also responsible for personal attire and equipment, including team suits, t-shirts, swim bags, towels, and snack/meal expenses at events. For information on What To Bring To Practice, please visit our ‘Documents’ tab.
Fundraising:
Each year, we work towards fulfilling our team’s equipment needs. In the past, fundraising has helped us purchase starting blocks, kickboards, pull buoys, shade tents, umbrellas, flags, equipment baskets, meet management software, and banners. This year, our efforts will support resurfacing at our EHAC facility, a nonprofit community pool where many of our practices are held. At SWAS, we believe in giving back to our community, and we appreciate your help in this effort.
- Eastern Hills Aquatic Club (EHAC): Est. 1971 - 501c(3) Non-Profit Community Pool
- EHAC is supported by a combination of memberships, party rentals, and instructional rental income. Our team uses a significant amount of pool time at EHAC, so it is incumbent upon our team to provide additional support to the facility.
- Our team covers the gas bill and provides managerial support, equipment maintenance, cleaning services, staffing for events, and member communications.
- Please consider renting EHAC for a party, investing in a membership to support this fabulous facility, or participating in one of the monthly clean-up days. More information is available at www.EHAC.Club.
